sharing in the blessing - our 1st adoption fundraiser

A few days ago I shared how Melanie and I officially announced that we are adopting a child. Others who have adopted know first hand what we went through while making this decision, and what goes into making this a reality. Many of our family members & friends have already stepped out in faith with us and have helped us bring the birth mom and her family back to Sacramento. Many people are trying to help us find housing for them and have given them food & clothing as well. We want to continue to share with you about the blessings of this journey that we are on. One of our friends has started an online fundraiser for the adoption. She and her husband have both adopted and have been great friends to Melanie and I for many years. We deeply value their friendship, their support and their belief in us. This fundraiser is an online campaign via facebook. And our friend who has started this effort, Katy, has asked that I shared this with you:

Adoption is an amazing picture of how Christ adopts us into his family. I believe that adoption is at the very heart of God. Nick and Melanie always knew that they would adopt one day. They have stayed open to God's plan and now God has directed their steps. They will adopt an unborn child that God in his sovereignty placed along their journey. Nick was answering the church phone when a woman called, who is in need of someone to adopt her unborn child. Nick and Melanie have opened their hearts and taken this huge step of faith to provide a loving family for this baby. Believing that GOD will provide. They began the process. And now we all have an opportunity to open our hearts and take this step of faith with them. The financial aspect of adoption is overwhelming. We may not all feel called to adopt but we are all called to help the poor, the orphan the widow. And this is an opportunity to demonstrate what we believe! We want to help Nick and Melanie reach their first financial need. And we want to reach it by Friday! Our goal is to raise $1500. That means we need 150 people to donate just $10. Or ANY amount, will help us get there! Will you be a part of this exciting journey?

We have set it up so that anyone who wants to partner with us in this adoption can do so finanically by donating on this blog. On the right hand side of the blog is a big yellow & below "DONATE" button that is totally secure and is an easy way to give. Also, we want to extend our network of people who are praying for us at this time.
